The shareholders are Hispasat, the satellite communications operator (43%), ISDEFE, the public company belonging to the Ministry of Defense (30%), Astrium CASA Espacio (15%), INDRA (7%) and SENER (5%).
The shareholder model relies on the joint use of public and private capital to provide strategic services based on efficiency and excellence.
Hisdesat has entered into various partnerships with other companies and international agencies in an effort to offer its services in an ever expanding and global marketplace. These include:
Joint venture in the United States with the American company Loral Space & Communications to create Xtar LLC, the purpose of which is to provide satellite communications services to government agencies through its network of communications satellites. Hisdesat owns a 44% stake in the company.
Joint venture in Canada with COMDEV to provide maritime traffic information services (AIS) through the Canadian company exactEarth. Hisdesat’s stake is 27%.
In December of 2007, Infoterra Servicios de Geoinformación was created to conduct activities involving remote sensing, spatial imaging and data acquisition, as well as to distribute high-resolution satellite data and to develop geoinformation services and applications. Hisdesat owns 20% of the company’s shares.
