Ground Segment
Each satellite of the HISDESAT system have their respective Control Centers, in both
cases one of the centres will be a back up, (Arganda and Maspalomas in Spain
for SPAINSAT; Otawa and Mt Jackson in the EEUU
for XTAR-EUR), which allows a high security of the system.
Due to the orbital location of both satellites, all the Tracking Centres, are located in Spanish territory (Arganda and Maspalomas). The combination of antennas provides a third level of back up allowing resources to be shared during the emergency operations of both satellites.
SPAINSAT has two Ground Control Centres, one of them a back up, that act as tracking and monitoring centres. They are located in Arganda (Madrid) and in Masapalomas (Canary Islands). Both centres contain the antennas of TC&R telemetry, range finding and control and the geographical separation.
XTAR-EUR has another two Ground Control Centres, located in Otawa and a back up in Mount Jackson (Virginia). Due to the orbital position of the satellite the Tracking Centres are located in Spain (Arganda and Maspalomas) with their respective TC&R antennas whose combination with the TC&R antennas of Spainsat will provide a third level of back up allowing resources to be shared during emergency operations.
