7.1 Cobertura de comunicaciones de 2/3 partes de la tierra
Hisdesat ha continuado prestando sus servicios de telecomunicaciones seguras en el ámbito de la seguridad y defensa
a través de los satélites SpainSAT (30º0) y Xtar-Eur (29ºE).

La nueva generación de comunicaciones seguras (SpainSAT NG) se ha definido conforme a los requisitos del
Ministerio de Defensa y supondrá un salto cualitativo respecto a la actual generación. Compuesta por dos satélites
gemelos, en bandas X, Ka militar y UHF aporta gran flexibilidad y capacidad en toda su área de cobertura. SpainSAT
NG incorpora los requisitos de OTAN, elevada fiabilidad y resiliencia a eventos nucleares e interferencias y se diseña
para ser un elemento fundamental del Programa Europeo GOVSATCOM liderado por España en la Agencia Europea
de Defensa (EDA).
