4.4 Operations During 2012 and for the seventh
consecutive year, Hisdesat has become consolidated as
satellite operator, maintaining fully operational and in orbit its
communications system consisting of the geostationary satellites
SpainSat and Xtar-Eur.
At the same time, preparations continued on the op-
eration of the future low orbit radar observation sat-
ellite Paz, the mission and operation of which is the
responsibility of Hisdesat. Preliminary analyses have
also been undertaken for the design and operation
of the Paz satellite’s virtual constellation with its Ger-
man counterparts TerraSar and Tandem-X.
