New technological advances incorporated into the SpainSat satellite guarantee
interference-free communications, opening up a wide range of possibilities to
offer more efficient and secure solutions for foreign policy, security and defen-
ce, as well as peacekeeping and disaster relief missions.

Throughout 2015 we have continued to provide these services via SpainSat,
bringing further momentum to the area of high strategic value communica-
tions. Spain thus enjoys high degrees of autonomy and capacity for response, in
line with the current needs of our country.

The quality of the service provided by Hisdes-
at to the Ministry of Defence has enabled us
to expand our scope of operations nationwide.
In 2007 an agreement was signed between the
Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs for the
development of a secure communications sys-
tem for State programmes outside the country.
The project makes use of two central hubs loca- SATÉLITE PAZ Radar
ted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the en-
tire network being linked via the geostationary
satellites SpainSat and Xtar-Eur. Currently more
than 25 Spanish embassies and consular offi- HISDESAT
ces in strategic countries have access to secure
communications through this system. OPERADOR

Hisdesat also provides secure communications EXPLOTADOR
services to Ministry of Interior projects related
to border surveillance, security operations and
the prevention of illegal immi-gration. In addi-
tion, communication services are provided to
the CSIC for its oceanographic research vessel
Hesperides.

Compatibility with existing X-band terminals
allows Hisdesat to operate without needing addi-
tional infrastructure. The marketing of the sys-
tem and its international expansion have been
