been designed to be highly flexible and will be capable of operating in a large
number of configurations, thereby permitting the selection of image features. It
has an image memory of 256 GB and the capacity to transmit images at 300
Mbits/s on X-band.
The INGENIO optic-techno-
logy satellite is intended pri-
marily to address the needs
of civilian users. It is run by
the Ministry of Industry and
the Centre for Industrial Te-
chnological Development
(CDTI), while the European
Space Agency (ESA) is res-
ponsible for managing the
manufacturing process. It
will have a heliosynchro-
nous orbit 670km above
the ground and circle the
Earth just over 14 times a
day, with the capacity to
take up to 600 panchroma-
tic and multi-spectral ima-
ges daily at resolutions of
2.5m and 10m, respectively.
With this satellite the Spa-
nish territory will be cove-
red fully 8 times a year.
Hisdesat is responsible for
the launch and commercial
exploitation of both satelli-
tes of the observation sys-
tem, in collaboration with
INTA, which will provide the
ground segment.
