Hisdesat is a government satellite services operator to act primarily in the areas of defense, security, intelligence and foreign affairs. It provides secure satellite communications services to government agencies from various countries, as well as Earth Observation services and maritime traffic information (AIS) satellite constellations. It will show this global services portfolio.

Hisdesat has an innovative generation of satellites (SpainSAT & XTAR-EUR) that provides more flexibility and security to satellite communications in the military X and Ka bands, offering communications coverage over two-thirds of the Earth. Now it is developing a new satellite Programa called SPAINSAT NG.

The EO satellite radar PAZ offers nighttime and daytime images in any weather conditions. Allow for Earth Observation for multiple purposes: border control, intelligence, environmental monitoring, protection of natural resources, military operations, enforcement of international treaties, surface monitoring, city and infrastructure planning, monitoring of natural catastrophes and high-resolution mapping, among many others.

The satellite-based maritime traffic information system (AIS) is managed through the Canadian company exactEarth (joint venture COMDEV-Hisdesat). The 60 satellites in this constellation receive AIS signals from the vessels that are equipped with this system. The data are then relayed to ground stations, where the information is collated and prepared in accordance with the requirements of the system’s various users. This new constellation of satellites will provide an accurate picture of the world’s maritime traffic in real time.

Hisdesat performs a ground control system for its satellites, centers where the telemetry is analyzed and where the commands to be sent to the satellites are prepared. These are equipped with TTC (Tracking, Telemetry and Command) antennas and operate 24/7. Due to the governmental nature of the services offered, the highly secure system is made fully redundant through the use of backup components.
