Cambridge, ON – June 24, 2014– The Spanish government services satellite company, Hisdesat, informs that exactEarth Ltd., a leading provider of global maritime vessel data, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Marine Environmental Observation Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR).  exactEarth is proudly joining the MEOPAR network as one of the first commercial partners and is excited to support new internships and various workshops, while also collaborating to further research and training activities within the MEOPAR network. In return, MEOPAR will now have access to the exactAIS® data service for use in multiple central projects across the maritime academic and research community of Canada.

Through research and observation, MEOPAR is working to help reduce Canada’s vulnerability and exposure to hazards and improve responses to marine emergencies. This is being achieved through strong connections with government agencies,  the academic community and other key partners. This collaboration with exactEarth will work to develop new cutting edge technologies, while also cultivating the most skilled expertise and highly qualified personnel to tackle the critical maritime issues facing Canada and its unique landscape.

“We are thrilled to put this partnership together with MEOPAR,” says Peter Dorcas, Canadian Sales Director for exactEarth.  “One of our major focuses for 2014 is building stronger ties to the maritime academic and research community across Canada and we believe there is no better partner to achieving this goal than MEOPAR. Their connections in the field will allow our exactAIS data to be used in a variety of critical projects from environmental protection initiatives to reducing response times in emergency situations.”

“This new partnership is an excellent opportunity to enhance MEOPAR’s role in supporting integrated projects across a wide range of disciplines” noted Ron Pelot, Associate Scientific Director of MEOPAR.  “Developing new insights, tools and solutions using exactAIS® data will result in stronger research capability in Canada and offer new applications which will strengthen exactEarth’s leadership in this field.”
